Photo Exhibition "Caucasus. Mountains from the Colored Space" by Kirill Ivanov

16.04.2018

"What do you dream of looking at the Milky Way in the mountains? How do you feel with the crisp white snow under your feet, snow-white air, a white Mountain above you, and companions, who walk along at 10 meter distance, but seem to be missing from this space... Why do you return to the mountains? Again and again...

I visited Caucuses for the first time as a newcomer at the mountaineering camp Bezengi in 1998. Caucasus is part of my life. Friends, sport, and a job. Meditation and emotions. In the context of this exhibition, I would like to show the photos made during the last four years.

The colored part of the exhibition was shot mainly in the Bezengi Gorge. You will see Shkhara, Jangi, and the rest of the most beautiful mountains of the Central Caucasus from the angle open only to a mountain climber. However, this exhibition is not about mountaineering. It is about a person in the mountains and his worldview.

Black-and-white series from Svaneti. Ushba, Shkhara. Analog photography. One of the goals of this exhibition is to remind that people live on the both sides of the Caucasus Mountains, and we are welcome in Georgia!"

15 works 150х100 cm, 7 works 100х70 cm 11 black-and-white works 95х70 cm hand-printing.
